General information for admission

Courses are offered in French or in English.  Students who wish to pursue their studies at the Montreal Technical College must enrol full time.  An Application for Admission must be sent as soon as possible.  The college will inform the applicant of its decision promptly.  Lastly, students who are accepted will receive a Registration Form to complete.

Deadlines for application

The college must receive the application form before July 15th for the fall semester and October 15th for the winter semester.  For late applications please contact the college at 514-932-6444 or info@mtccollege.com.

Admission - Documents required

The following documents are required when applying and must be included with the application:

	Application form for Admission, duly completed; the form may be requested at info@mtccollege.com;
	Birth certificate – new model issued after January 1st, 1994 by the Direction de l’état civil (Registrar of Civil Status - large format) or old model if issued before 1994 - (showing the surnames and given names of both parents);
	High school diploma (DES) or equivalent and the final transcript of marks from high school;
	Most recent transcript of marks from collegial and post-secondary studies, if applicable;
	Copy of any diplomas or other documents attesting to the student’s level of education; All copies must be legible and consistent bearing the seal or stamp of the establishment from which they were issued;
	A money order or a certified check in CDN dollars in the amount of $50.00 (fifty) dollars (non refundable) paid to the order of the Montreal Technical College covering the application fees. Applications that are not accompanied by the above mentioned fee will not be accepted.  Please do not send cash in the mail;
	Proof of permanent resident of Canada; You must provide the college with a copy of  a Canadian permanent resident card or immigration form IMM-5292 or IMM-1000, or a proof of  Status of Refugees.

To qualify as a resident of Quebec, the student must provide either of the following as proof (in some cases more than one of these may be required):

Attestation of Québec resident status for Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

Recognition of prior learning and competencies

A course that you had previously completed at another college seems to be the equivalent of the one offered at Montreal Technical College?

What is prior learning and recognition?
Upon enrolment to the Architectural Program many adults wish to find out about the possibility of obtaining a prior learning assessment and recognition for architectural courses completed at another educational institution. Prior learning assessment and recognition is based on the principle that adults should not have to take courses is they have already attained the learning objectives as defined in the course.  To obtain credits relevant to one or several courses, the adult interested in obtaining recognition for prior learning must demonstrate that he or she possesses equivalent knowledge and skills as those required by the course or courses as defined in the application for recognition.

Provided the individual can demonstrate that his or her prior learning corresponds to the objectives of one or several courses within the training program, he or she may apply for prior learning recognition.
Persons wishing to apply for a prior learning assessment and recognition must compile all pertinent information:

	Complete an application form;
	Submit a copy of the most recent official statement of marks showing successfully completed courses;
	Submit the contents of previously completed courses;
	Identify the courses relevant to the application for prior learning and recognition;
	Include a check in the amount of $50.00 for evaluation of the file;
	Attach a portfolio, if applicable;

After evaluation of the file, the Director of Education may wish to set up an interview with the individual requesting the prior learning assessment and recognition or request that he or she submit to an exam in order to complete the evaluation of the file.
 
In the case of a favourable decision on an application for prior learning and recognition, a mention of « EQ » equivalence will be accorded for each relevant course. Lastly, the cumulative report will show all courses recognized and their respective credits.
