General information for admission

Courses are offered in French or in English.  Students who wish to pursue their studies at the Montreal Technical College must enrol full time.  An Application for Admission must be sent as soon as possible.  The college will inform the applicant of its decision promptly.  Lastly, students who are accepted will receive a Registration Form to complete.

 

Deadlines for application

Quebec resident status

To qualify as a resident of Quebec, the student must provide either of the following as proof (in some cases more than one of these may be required):

1.
Proof that he or she holds a Quebec Selection Certificate;
 
2.
Proof that he or she currently receiving financial assistance (loans and bursaries);
   
3.
Proof that he or she had previously received financial assistance (loans and bursaries) within the last year;
   
4.
Proof that one of the student’s parents or sponsor currently resides in Quebec;
   
5.
Note – A valid health insurance card issued to a parent (father or mother) is sufficient proof of the student’s residence in Quebec;
   
6.
Proof that he or she resided in Quebec within the last 12 months;
   
7.
Note – A valid health insurance card issued to a parent (father or mother) is sufficient proof of the student’s residence in Quebec.

Recognition of prior learning and competencies

A course that you had previously completed at another college seems to be the equivalent of the one offered at Montreal Technical College?

What is prior learning and recognition?
Upon enrolment to the Architectural Program many adults wish to find out about the possibility of obtaining a prior learning assessment and recognition for architectural courses completed at another educational institution. Prior learning assessment and recognition is based on the principle that adults should not have to take courses is they have already attained the learning objectives as defined in the course.  To obtain credits relevant to one or several courses, the adult interested in obtaining recognition for prior learning must demonstrate that he or she possesses equivalent knowledge and skills as those required by the course or courses as defined in the application for recognition.

Provided the individual can demonstrate that his or her prior learning corresponds to the objectives of one or several courses within the training program, he or she may apply for prior learning recognition.

After evaluation of the file, the Director of Education may wish to set up an interview with the individual requesting the prior learning assessment and recognition or request that he or she submit to an exam in order to complete the evaluation of the file.
 
In the case of a favourable decision on an application for prior learning and recognition, a mention of « EQ » equivalence will be accorded for each relevant course. Lastly, the cumulative report will show all courses recognized and their respective credits.
