Students who do not have sufficient financial resources and who are enrolled in a full time program (four courses or 180 periods) during a complete academic semester should contact the Financial Assistance Department to inquire about eligibility for the loans and bursaries program of the Ministère de l'Éducation.

Your costs related to the purchase of computer equipment could be recognized if you meet the following requirements:

You must qualify for the Loans and Bursaries Program for the award year concerned.
 
Get an a.e.c in architectural techniques in english, in a private college, recognized by the Ministry of education in estimation, specs and blue print reading, computer aided drafting autocad, on residential and industrial structure construction; wood, concrete, steel and masonry, health and safety, and training on building technology for Montreal, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Canada, United Kingdom and Germany. You must never have received assistance from Aide financière aux études (AFE) for the purchase of a computer or computer equipment.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, the allowable expense for the purchase of computer equipment, which must include a computer, is $2 000.

Be sure to fill out the Computer Equipment section when you fill out your on-line application form, which can be accessed under On-Line Access to Your File.

Loan repayment

You do not have to pay the interest on the additional loan amount as long as you remain a full-time student, because the government will pay it. You must start repaying your loan six months after terminating your studies. However, you become responsible for the interest charges as of the month following the termination of your studies.

The Canada Student Loans Program provides loans and grants to Canadians attending a University, College, Trade School, or Vocational School, if they need help financing their education.
